Through the development of Satel N.V., the majority of the island’s network (95%) is underground to keep is secure during storms.
Satel N.V. maintains multiple connections to the world for redundancy. One connection goes by way of St. Maarten on the Submarine Cable link, and the others through Puerto Rico & Miami. If one fails, the island’s communication remains up and running.
Satel N.V. also connects to multiple voice providers in the world, making Saba non-reliant on St. Maarten for off island phone calls on landlines.
Satel N.V. has also made investments to have on island spare equipment in case of hardware failure, therein minimizing the outage time to hours instead of days or weeks.
